Spirituality, it’s the most unique aspect of human existence and is as personal as your individuality. While it’s your individuality that sets you apart from others spirituality is meant to bring us together again. But a pattern of thinking that might work for you may not work for someone else.
Spirituality Comes In Many Forms
Two such forms are Christianity and paganism. It is these we will concern ourselves with here. Christianity’s been around for a long time and with it various forms of practice. Some areas of Christianity may be challenging, but if it helps you feel connected and adds joy to your life it’s right for you.
There are other types of spirituality that are earth or nature-based. These also have been around for a while. This type of spirituality also has varying degrees of expectations.
Like Christianity, paganism is wonderful for a lot of people, but not for everyone. Some think to choose this form of spirituality is wrong. But is it wrong, or just different?
Ritual
It’s interesting to think that both forms of spirituality have one thing in common. Ritual in Christianity consists mostly of going to church on Sunday. A traditional service might start with worship, and singing praises to God.
Worship prepares their hearts for the message to come. At the end of the service, the leader may offer a blessing to the people. In return, the people give a blessing back.
Nature or earth-based religions have ritual as well. This kind might include lighting a candle and burning incense. There may be chanting or singing as well. They may call on a God or Goddess to help them with a need or to simply spend time with them.
In this form of ritual one of the main goals is to connect with the guardians of the four directions and the elements of fire, water, earth and air along with their attributes.
It’s about accessing the power of our heart and mind, to bring about our desires.
Let’s face it spirituality is about connecting. It’s about connecting with God and with each other. That’s right, as we discover our spirituality we may also find our tribe or true family. While the spiritual practices we use today may or may not be the same as we were born into It’s the journey that’s really important.
So how do you know if you’re in the right religion? It’s simple. Ask yourself these questions:
- Is it a place of joy?
- Does it bring you fulfillment?
- Does it bring you closer to Your god or goddess?
- Does it help you find your tribe?
If it does these things then you are in the right place and your journey is going well, but if it does not give you these things then maybe you should think about making a change.
